Academic Programmes

1. Ph.D. PPROGRAMMES :

The Department of Applied Sciences offers a PhD program that encompasses two primary disciplines, Physics and Chemistry. The department is actively engaged in cutting-edge research in areas including Space Plasma Physics, Space Weather, and Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Atmospheric Research in polar regions such as Antarctica and the Arctic, Laser Physics, Free Electron Laser theory, and Undulator characterization, Photoluminescent Nanomaterials, MEMS, Nanoscience and Semiconductor Package Design. The Chemistry aspect emphasises critical areas like Computer Aided Drug Design, Molecular Modelling, and Nanomaterials. The department of applied sciences presently offers the following long-term programmes.

• Ph.D. in Physics
• Ph.D. in Chemistry

2. Postgraduate Programmes:

The School of Sciences, comprised of the Department of Applied Science Education, is committed to providing a transformative educational experience aligned with the NEP 2020 guidelines. It embraces a learner-centric approach with active participation. For enthusiastic learners, the School of Sciences offers interdisciplinary postgraduate programmes in

1. M. Sc. Physics (Semiconductor Science and Technology):

TThe M.Sc. in Physics (Semiconductor Science and Technology) program is designed to meet the increasing demand for professionals proficient in Physics and semiconductor science and technology. The rationale behind this program is to equip students with the necessary knowledge related to physics, semiconductor materials and photonics and technologies ranging from silicon to compound semiconductors, including emerging fields like plastic electronics and 2D materials. This course equips students with the skills to design and manufacture semiconductor devices and gain insights into the diverse applications of these technologies, spanning areas such as communications, artificial intelligence, automotive and photonics.

2. M. Sc Biopharmaceutical Science:

The M. Sc in Biopharmaceutical Sciences is a two-year full-time program that aims to provide students with a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the principles and practices of biopharmaceutical sciences. This Programme is designed to address the growing demand for highly trained professionals in the biopharmaceutical sector, which is rapidly expanding due to advances in biotechnology, personalized medicine, and innovative drug delivery systems. This interdisciplinary programme integrates fundamental and applied knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences, biotechnology, regulatory affairs, and clinical research, equipping graduates with the skills required to contribute effectively to research, development, and manufacturing in the biopharmaceutical industry.

These programmes offer a flexible curriculum that transcends traditional subject boundaries and encourages learners to explore connections between scientific disciplines, fostering a holistic understanding of knowledge. Recognizing that each learner has unique interests and aspirations, we offer a flexible curriculum. Recognition of prior learning [PRL] will be assessed, and due credits will be assigned. Outcome-based, learner-centric curriculum with a comprehensive and balanced mix of core disciplines and educational technology, empowering students to excel in impactful teaching, research, and service to the Industry.

These postgraduate programs emphasize research. Learners can probe deep into a specific area of interest, guided by experienced faculty mentors. The "master by research" model allows learners to contribute meaningfully to scientific advancements while honing their analytical and critical thinking skills through experiential learning. Learners can comprehend through discussions, case studies, hands-on experiments, and collaborative projects. Problem and Project based learning, opportunities for self-learning, providing Industry connections, assigning interdisciplinary projects, emphasis on project management and finance, concern for professional ethics, environment and society, etc. This approach enriches the learning experience and inspires learners to pursue their research inquiries.
