A. Contribution of DMRDE in SWAYAM MOOCS SINCE 2018-19

1.0 Brief about SWAYAM MOOCs

SWAYAM is a programme initiated by the Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy viz., access, equity and quality. The objective of this effort is to take the best teaching and learning resources to all, including the most disadvantaged. SWAYAM seeks to bridge the digital divide for students who have hitherto remained untouched by the digital revolution and have not been able to join the mainstream of the knowledge economy. Being part of this SWAYAM initiative, all four NITTTRs have developed 65 MOOCs in the area of teacher training, and 2 MOOCs on Student Assessment. These are being offered on the SWAYAM Platform in two cycles per year since 2018-2019. The platform is also used by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) for offering courses for newly inducted technical teachers under the National Initiative for Technical Teacher Training (8 Basic Module MOOCs under AICTE-NITTT) and for the courses under the Annual Refresher Programme in Teaching (ARPIT). Out of these, about 21 MOOCs are developed by NITTTR, Bhopal and are being offered on the SWAYAM Platform.

DMRDE faculty and technical staff have produced all the videos of the MOOCs developed by NITTTR, Bhopal. Faculty members of the institute presented to the camera and contributed to the development of videos and eContents for all these MOOCs. DMRDE faculty members are coordinating some of these MOOCs. All these MOOCs are 1, 2 or 3 credit courses.
