Learning Resource Development

Learning material requirement at the technician level appropriate to Indian conditions has not yet been fully met even in respect of conventional instructional technologies. With the introduction of numerous new technology programmes, the need for such material is increasing enormously. The setting up of Learning Resource Development Centres (LRDCs) one each in the states and Learning Resource Utilisation Centres (LRUCs), in polytechnics under NITTTR, guidance has relieved the Institute of some responsibility of providing such material. The Institute has started development of instructional resources in a variety of emerging areas. It is working continuously to develop professionals for manning such centres, and assisting them in the preparation and development of instructional materials, their tryout and refinement.

The Institute is also experimenting with the development of learning resources using high technology e.g. Computer Based Training (CBT) packages and multimedia packages for instruction in hi-tech areas, preparation of institutional and company profiles and for developing positive attitudes among teachers, trainers and students. The efforts in developing Competency Based Self-Learning Modules for different HRD Projects and have been well appreciated by the clients.
